Tragic Loss: Chris Davies involved in car crash that Leads to…..
Chris Davies has discovered a ‘perfect’ formula which demands the best from Birmingham City
Birmingham City have made a creditable start to their League One campaign but there’s a lot of progress yet to be made
Chris Davies has set high standards within the walls of Birmingham City’s training ground in Henley-in-Arden, and the fruits of those demands have been on display very early into the manager’s reign. Blues, after coming through an awkward test on the opening day in which they took a point against Reading, have ventured south in league and cup in the last fortnight and have emerged victorious on all three occasions.
For Keshi Anderson, who remained at the club this past spring following Blues’ relegation, the most recent outing, Saturday’s 2-1 win at Leyton Orient, was another opportunity to impress from the off. Having been granted an hour at Wycombe, Anderson confirmed that that spot in the Blues attack remains his to lose for now – and those efforts to retain the shirt were strengthened as he opened the scoring after seven minutes
Anderson is enjoying life under Davies, who has inherited a versatile and experienced attack-minded player, who endeared himself to supporters after joining from Blackpool last summer and despite the club’s collective demise. Anderson’s role in the current Blues system, implemented by Davies, is ‘perfect for him’ – as he explained himself.
“It keeps you on your toes,” Anderson said of the competition for places in the squad. “Each player has the pressure, and everyone wants to be the one who gets the shirt for Saturday or Tuesday. It’s not a threat, but you have to be better and do better everyday because the gaffer sets high standards. If we do that, we’ll only get better.
“In terms of link up play and coming inside from the wing, it allows me to get into certain positions where I can dribble and drive with the ball. In terms of me, it’s perfect. It suits me and the players I’ve got around me, the midfielders – Marc [Leonard], Paik, Tayls [Gardner-Hickman], they get on the half turn and look for their passes.
