Ben Davies is looking forward to the opportunity to make his mark in B9.

Blues’ latest summer transfer window arrival, the 13th new addition under Chris Davies’ stewardship, arrives ahead of three consecutive home fixtures, with Fulham on Tuesday 27 August, kick-off 8pm, Wigan Athletic on Saturday 31 August, kick-off 3pm, and Walsall on Tuesday 3 September, kick-off 7.45pm, all visiting St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

The defender, who has spent the last two seasons at Rangers, where he joins on loan from, is available for each of these matches in the Carabao Cup, Sky Bet League One and Bristol Street Motors Trophy respectively.

At his new workplace, the Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre, Davies spoke to BluesTV about his loan move and his desire to make an impact for the Club.

Ben Davies is ready to embrace the pressure of a promotion tilt.

Blues secured the 29-year-old’s services on loan from Rangers for the 2024/25 season over the weekend, adding another option and 246 EFL appearances worth of knowhow at centre-back or on the defence’s left-hand side.

The defender, in terms of playing in England, is most commonly associated with a 15-year stay at Preston North End where his performances earned him a move to Liverpool in January 2021, who were reigning Premier League champions at the time.

Davies talked about the experience he will bring to the dressing room and how his time at other Clubs, where expectations have been so great, will serve him well when working under Chris Davies.

“I have played in League One, League Two and the Championship, so lots of games and bringing my qualities, doing what the Manager wants me to do and try and fit in as best I can.

“It is an intense club Rangers, it is a brilliant club, it has helped me to deal with pressure and that need to win every week which I think will help me coming into Birmingham this year.

“Liverpool and as well Sheffield United, which was similar as they had just come down from the Premier League and wanted to bounce straight back, and Rangers the same, all of those clubs – Birmingham as well – need to win every week.

Davies becomes the 13th new face to join the Men’s First Team this summer and was able to provide a detailed account of how his move to St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park was delivered.

“It happened quite quick. I first heard and spoke to Birmingham last week. I spoke to Craig Gardner and the Manager and I was very impressed. They got my attention straight away.

“They were probably the main reason why I wanted to try and follow it up and see if it was possible. I think they agreed a deal on Friday or Thursday night and then I was on my way down on Friday morning.

“Honestly, once I spoke to Craig and the Manager I was really sold on it, by what they want to do and I saw it as a big challenge, a fresh start.”
