SAD NEWS FOR MANCHESTER UNITED: Viktor Gyökeres Officially Rejects Move as Arsenal Prepare Second Bid

In a blow to Manchester United’s transfer ambitions, Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres has officially turned down the opportunity to join the Red Devils this summer. The 26-year-old Sporting CP forward has been a top target for Erik ten Hag as he looks to rebuild his squad ahead of the 2025/26 season. However, Gyökeres has reportedly made it clear he is not interested in a move to Old Trafford, opting instead to keep his options open — with Arsenal now emerging as strong contenders for his signature.

Gyökeres enjoyed a sensational 2024/25 season in Portugal, netting 36 goals and contributing 15 assists across all competitions. His explosive form has drawn attention from several elite European clubs, but it is Arsenal who now seem to be in the driver’s seat. Mikel Arteta is reportedly preparing a second bid to secure the striker, viewing him as the ideal upgrade to spearhead the Gunners’ attack as they look to mount a serious Premier League title challenge.

Manchester United’s failure to convince Gyökeres is another setback in what has been a frustrating window. Despite their long-standing interest, the player’s concerns over the club’s sporting direction and Champions League absence are believed to be key reasons behind his decision.

United now face the task of turning their attention to alternative targets, with names like Joshua Zirkzee and Jonathan David already being linked.

As Arsenal prepare to ramp up negotiations, Manchester United fans are left to rue another missed opportunity in the market — one that could have transformed their attack. With the clock ticking, the pressure is mounting on United’s recruitment team to deliver a top-class forward.
