Shocking news: RB Leipzig sack head coach Rose…

In a stunning development, RB Leipzig have parted ways with head coach Marco Rose following a series of disappointing performances that have left the team struggling in both domestic and European competitions.

Rose, who took over the reins in September 2022, led Leipzig to significant achievements, including winning the DFB-Pokal and the German Supercup in 2023. However, this season has seen a decline in form, with the team currently occupying sixth place in the Bundesliga, three points adrift of Champions League qualification. A recent 1-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach proved to be the tipping point, leading to Rose’s dismissal.

The decision to relieve Rose of his duties also saw the departure of his coaching staff and the head of first-team football. Marcel Schäfer, the club’s managing director for sport, emphasized the need for a fresh impetus to achieve the season’s objectives, acknowledging that despite previous backing, a change was necessary to turn the team’s fortunes around.

In the aftermath, Zsolt Löw, currently the head of soccer development at Leipzig, has been appointed as interim head coach until the end of the season. Löw brings valuable experience, having served as an assistant under Ralph Hasenhüttl and Thomas Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich. He faces the challenging task of guiding Leipzig to secure a Champions League spot and advancing to the Pokal final.

This managerial change also marks the first significant decision under Jürgen Klopp’s tenure as Red Bull’s head of global football, a role he assumed in January 2025. Klopp’s influence is expected to shape the club’s strategic direction in the coming years.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Leipzig’s response to this upheaval, with supporters hopeful that the new leadership will rejuvenate the team’s performance and restore their status among Germany’s elite football clubs.
