Indiana football RB Elijah Green is first Hoosier to enter transfer portal during winter window
BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football running back Elijah Green has entered the transfer portal with one year of eligibility left, per multiple reports.
He was IU’s fourth-leading rusher in 2024 with 201 yards (6.9 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He opened the season with touchdowns in the team’s first four games.
Nearly all of his snaps came during mop up time of blowout wins — his 29 carries came with the Hoosiers leading by 15-plus points and 23 of them came in the fourth quarter. He showed some impressive athleticism despite that limited workload with seven carries of 10 yards or more.
Green’s departure leaves Kaelon Black as Indiana’s lone returning running back for 2025 with experience with Justice Ellison and Ty Son Lawton out of eligibilty. The Hoosiers only other running backs are Khobie Martin, who redshirted this year, and 2025 signee Sean Cuono.
The former North Carolina running back is the first IU player to enter the portal since the winter transfer window opened on Monday.
