Bo Nix ‘Not Afraid of Competition’ as Sean Payton Addresses the Broncos’ Unsettled Positions

Bo Nix has been the center of attention in the NFL world for many reasons. Since Peyton Manning retired, the Denver Broncos have used 13 starters. However, with the approach Nix has adopted this preseason, their fortunes may be changed from the ground up. Sean Payton appears to also appreciate the same and identified young Nix as a critical component

Sean Payton’s strategic acumen and ability to develop stars, previously having trained big names such as Koy Detmer, Bobby Hoying, and Rodney Peete, is a resume that speaks for itself. This year, it appears that Payton is focusing on his strengths and has appreciated Nix, among other things. Bo Nix has filled a key position on the squad, and Payton appears to keep emphasizing this fact.

Sean Payton stated in an interview with the Denver Post, “There is a lot of attention on Bo, understandably so when you draft a quarterback in the first round. Every one of us recognizes the significance of getting that position settled and having someone at that position who we feel like we can win with. When that is unsettled, it’s tough on your team.”

Many think that the Broncos are a team in transition, however, Payton hasn’t ever posted fewer than 7 victories a season. His thinking is also fully consistent with Nix’s approach. Nix finished with an 80.4 PFF overall grade in the preseason. But the young gun was responsible for 33.3% of his pressured dropbacks, a rate that has to be lowered. But give it time, will you

Whether Nix becomes a vital player for the Broncos or not, his mindset serves as a reminder of what it takes to win in the NFL
