The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation made an innovative effort to engage the team’s fans with their charitable work. They launched a ‘Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) 50/50 Raffle’.
The raffle, which raises funds to support the foundation’s various programs, allows them to support communities, with one lucky fan getting a chance to win the grand cash prize.
The official website announced Friday’s 50/50 Raffle winning number, which is 97261893257. The winner will get $28,440 prize money from the $56,880 total raised pot, and the other half will go to their charity events.
The LA Dodgers Foundation partnered with their All-Star starter Clayton Kershaw’s philanthropy project, ‘Kershaw’s Challenge’, six years ago to launch ‘LA Reads’. It’s a literacy program to motivate the youth towards the love of reading.
As part of the initiative, Kershaw hosted a program at the Downtown Central Library with 100 third and fourth-graders. He read the book Bigger Than Me, written by Ann Higginboom, Clayton’s wife Ellen Kershaw’s sister, about his son Charley.
The event concluded with a Q&A session with Kershaw, followed by giveaways of the book and LA Reads shirts.
